Bret - Principal at HR&A Advisors
As a Principal at HR&A Advisors, an industry leading real estate and economic development advisory firm, Bret leads complex projects that revitalize urban communities, drive economic growth, and support economic opportunity. With a background spanning real estate, public policy, community development, and communications, Bret works with urban leaders across the United States to develop citywide plans, site reuse strategies, and public policies and programs that seek to align public and private interests and create more vibrant and inclusive cities. Among highlighted projects, he managed the City of New York’s long-term plan, OneNYC 2050 (also known as “NYC’s Green New Deal”), which serves as a blueprint to tackle climate change, economic inequality, and other pressing challenges; led a vision plan for the reuse of NYC’s Rikers Island jail complex, including concept development for a 21st-century green infrastructure campus; and has designed numerous programs to support workforce development and industry growth, including NYC BigApps, a globally recognized civic technology competition that has seeded 600+ civically oriented tech products and helped establish New York City as a civic tech hub. Prior to joining HR&A, Bret was a senior aide at the New York City Council and a community journalist in the Bronx. He is a proud graduate of Cornell University’s S.C. Johnson College of Business (MBA ’13) and holds a B.A. from New York University.
