Paul Mutolo
Paul F. Mutolo ‘94, Ph.D.is the Co-Founder and CEO of The Standard Hydrogen Corporation (SHC)and the Executive Director of the Center for Alkaline-based Energy Solutions (CABES)at Cornell University. In all his endeavors, Paul brings a creativity and optimistic intent for each of us to be more mindful of our ecological impact, and through that awareness, to diminish it. Since 2000, he has been working in the energy storage sector, with an emphasis on fuel cells. Representing Cornell, Paul is a founding board member and officer of the New York Battery & Energy Storage Technology (NY-BEST) consortium. He is an expert in electrochemical hydrogen materials and systems. Paul has a strong track record of accelerating technology in the energy storage sector through the lab-to-market transition by building strategic alliances, especially public–private partnerships. Paul’s experience includes two fuel cell startup companies that focused on technology development. He is a named inventor on 3 issued US patents and 2pending patent applications. He holds an A.B. in chemistry from Cornell University, a Ph.D.in chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he focused on inorganic / materials chemistry. He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley. As a Fulbright Fellow, Paul conducted two years of his doctoral research at the WWU in Münster, Germany. Paul lives in Ithaca with his wife and two children. They are often found outside, on the water when possible, or just enjoying the Cornell Chimes from their backyard
